PHOTOS -- MidJersey Comicon #1

The first-ever Mid-Jersey Comicon galloped into the sunset, triumphantly confirming our suspicions that collectors longed for another comic book show based in the Trenton area. Over 125 people attended our first show -- so much for the fear that we would play host to a empty room. We received some nice newspaper write-ups in TIME OFF and TEMPO, the weekend entertainment sections of the PRINCETON PACKET and its sister publications; the EWING OBSERVER; and the TRENTON TIMES.
Marvel Comics scribe DAN SLOTT, writer of SHE-HULK and GREAT LAKES AVENGERS, was a terrific guest. Enthusiastic and chatty, he regalled fans non-stop with his tall tales about working for the House of Ideas -- and about some of his exciting forthcoming projects. Fans and General Public People (who learned of the show through write-ups in the newspapers) ooo-ed and ahh-ed over the artwork of NEIL VOKES (THE WICKED WEST), DANIEL HORNE (VAMPIRELLA) and JEFFREY SHULTZ (BETTY & VERONICA). Even fantasy publisher SAL QUARTUCCIO of SQP, INC. was present. If you go back as far back as me, you'll remember the stunning Marvel Comics portfolios of SPIDER-MAN, the HULK, and the X-MEN by the art-team of Fastner & Larson. Sal published those and many others. Today he publishes beautiful fantasy artbooks -- but take heed: Sal warns that there is a "staggering amount" of nudity on the SQP website.
     Here are some PHOTOS
of the show posted on the
REDHEAD FANGIRL
blog, which is maintained by LAVERNE, co-sponsor of the show. RICH HARVEY, the show's other co-sponsor, doesn't bother with a personal blog -- his free time is idled away with pulp reprints and the annual PULP ADVENTURECON, a one-day show in Bordentown devoted to the old pulp magazines and vintage paperbacks. Read more about the next show on the BOLD VENTURE PRESS website.
