DWR session #2
July 24th, 2008 Posted in GeneralTonight was my second attempt at deep water running. I ran 20 minutes with the aid of flotation and 5 minutes on my own. I finished the workout off with 5 minutes of swimming laps.
It was much harder than I would have thought. Next time, I’ll use my heart rate monitor to record my intensity. Next time, I’ll skip the after work happy hour. Oops.
I made a good decision last night when I chose not to go for a run after a line of thunderstorms went through. The sky was clear, but I still heard thunder in the distance. 10 minutes later the sky turned dark and we got hit with another big thunderstorm. It would have been a bad situation for sure.

The furman institute (FIRST), which I have used for training recommends pool running only for injury recovery. They suspect that it might train your muscle twitch fibers to fire slower. I’m just looking for a way to stay cool in the summer.
