8 on the 8th Olympic Style
August 9th, 2008 Posted in Training Runs, Virtual Club RunThis morning I participated in the 8 on the 8th Olympics Style Run virtual run. My race started at 9:45 a.m. — the original start time was 8:08 a.m., but the opening ceremonies were on late last night. The course was the same route that I ran for the 8 on the 8th last December. I ran from my house to Mercer County park, along the path for about a mile and then turned around for the return trip.
The weather was pleasant–sunny, temperature in the low 70s. I enjoyed the run. Like my run last Thursday, I felt like I was running well. During the run, I passed several runners. Most were going the opposite way. I could not tell what countries they were from or if they were even running the same event as me. I was glad that I brought along water. The race was a good workout. My finishing time was 1:02:39. It was faster than my last 8 on the 8th by 2 minutes or so.
I need to hurry. My next event, synchronized lawn mowing, has already started. I better get out there with my neighbors teammates.
Good luck to all the Olympians (virtual and real).
Here are my past Virtual Run Race Reports:
8 on the 8th – December 8, 2007
9 on the 9th – February 9, 2008
10K on the 10th – May 10, 2008

I bet the opening ceremonies looked great on a bigger screen than I have. I recorded it but ended up watching pretty much in real time!

In our neighborhood, all the men wait until one of us has the courage to be the first to mow for the week, then we all follow like sheep…half the time, we’re out there at the same time.

Didn’t you love the opening ceremonies Friday night? I was just so impressed.
