Head in the clouds

July 18th, 2009 Posted in Training Runs

Did you hear about the new cloud formation? I thought that everything had already been discovered. I decided that I should pay more attention during my runs–perhaps I can get one named after me. The first step would be learn what the current ones are. I’m clueless on that part now.

This morning I ran an out and back to the Veterans dog park. This route has become my go to run during the last month. It has some shade, slight inclines and a couple of miles in the park. It’s 7 miles total. Today I found myself modifying my running form and pace trying to find something that felt good. The phantom pains shifted from my heels to my calves to my knees. The last two miles I gave up on the experimenting and ran without thinking about it. Instead, I was thinking about questions for the how well do you know shoreturtle quiz on fb. Needless to say, the last two miles felt the best. I ended up running a little faster without any pain.

My new shoes felt good, though they didn’t magically make everything better.

Looks like today was a ‘cirrus’ run from the likes of those cloud formations.

Running without thinking about it is a very good thing.
