Last 10

When Flyers26 suggested that we meet up for my last long run before the marathon, I jumped at the chance. I told him beforehand that I would be running my pace, no matter how fast he ran. We tend to push the pace when we run together. We met at 7am and ran a 10 mile loop into Mercer County park and back. I usually run the loop the opposite way so this was a little different. It’s always fun to run with him.

My goal was to run an 8:20 pace. I deliberately ran slowly the first mile to even out the faster miles that I knew were to follow. Our splits for the 10.12 miles were: 8:41, 8:13, 8:10, 8:21, 8:04, 8:21, 8:20, 8:14, 8:16, 8:17, 59 seconds. Total time was 1:23:56, which is an 8:18 pace. I feel good about the run. It was a nice way to end training. I have a couple of real short runs this week and then next Sunday I will be running 26.2 miles!

The ever changing weather forecast now says: 42 degrees at race start. Times of sun and clouds. Winds from the SW at 8 mph. 52 degrees at my anticipated finish time.

I am willing to pay a couple of extra dollars in addition to my registration fee if I can lock in this forecast.

Just don’t check the weather for the rest of the week and pretend the forecast hasn’t changed :-)

    Relax! You’re ready.

I can’t believe it’s been since Chicago two years ago that you went the distance. I predict sub-4.

    Good luck. Have fun. Relax.

Oh – and have a good big breakfast the day of the race. You’ll thank me later.

It was great to run with you again.
The 10 went by really quickly.
    Best of luck in Harrisburgh.

FYI… my garmin needed a charge.

I sure envy you. You have the best weather coming up this Sunday for the Harrisburg Marathon. Get this… no Nor’easter storm. It will be between 40 to 60 degrees and sunshine. As a matter of fact, I am super jealous !!!

    GOOD LUCK AND KICK A$$

The forcast looks pretty good at this point. You’ve done the work, all that’s left is the worrying. Maybe I’ll see you there. I haven’t blog about it yet but I’m running Harrisburg after all (a surprise from my wife).
