Indoor marathon

I must be suffering from post-harrisburg dizziness. This sounds like a cool idea. The marathon guide reviews are all very positive. Registration is already closed for 2010.

The 5th Annual Zoom! Yah! Yah! Indoor Marathon is scheduled for Sunday, January 10, 2010 at St. Olaf College, Northfield, MN. This is a 150 lap race where every lap time is recorded by your personal time keeper. The are 600 aid stations on the course, you will hear music the entire 26.21 miles and you will change directions every 30 minutes. The weather is perfect: no wind, no rain, no snow….just a constant 60-65 degrees. We have the BEST pre-race meal anywhere and we provide towels for out-of-town runners. We will have a lottery again in 2010.

I have a friend in St. Paul that might be able to get me in for 2011. I think the monotony of it all would kill me. It would be more of a mental challenge than anything. Besides who wants to see the same people 150 times, Yikes!!!

I did an 8 lap marathon, and that was odd.. 150laps? I’d go insane !

Shirly from Humble Triathlete ran that race last year. She seemed to enjoy it.

I ran 24 one mile loops for a training run once…I think this founds fun, too!

ugh, sounds like an interesting concept but seems like it could get a little boring after awhile (even if you change direction every so many laps)..

I do like the idea of not worrying about the weather, especially in January.

Yep – you’re dizzy. I can’t even imagine how that would be remotely fun.

Now if you had a shot every 30 minutes when you changed directions, then maybe…
