Spring is here?

November 14th, 2009 Posted in Training Runs

Went for an afternoon run today. It was partly cloudy and 60 degrees. I wore shorts and a tank top. I made a mental note to self: check calendar and make sure that it is November. This was my first run since the marathon on Sunday. I’ve felt great all week–no worse than a long training run. Or so I thought. Almost immediately during my run, I got a stitch in my side and my legs were tired. After I couple of minutes, I was sweating up a storm. This was exactly how I felt the last 10 miles of the marathon.

I stuck with it today. I kept running. I changed my breathing and got rid of my side stitch. I didn’t stop, other than to wait for stop lights to change in my favor. Each mile felt a little better. The last two miles were my fastest (8:12 & 7:54). I needed to end the run on a high note. I didn’t have a pace in mind, but the 5 miles were at my target marathon pace for Harrisburg. Today, I was glad to be only running 5 miles.

I ran 10 this morning, and if it’s this warm next Sunday, I might run in a tank top.

Enjoy the warm weather. I’m pretty sure the cold stuff is on its way.
