Afternoon run

November 27th, 2009 Posted in Trails, Training Runs

This afternoon I went for a run from my parent’s house in Michigan. I ran up the street to the HS Soccer Fields and then jumped on the cross country trail behind the high school. I turned around at the public library. I would have reversed my route, but I heard several gun shots in the woods so I ran back along the road. It has been several years since I’ve run here. The cars/trucks were speeding by while I was running on the shoulder between the ditch and the road. New Jersey has made me soft. I’m used to running on sidewalks around my neighborhood. The Michigan country roads are much tougher to navigate. When I finished, I saw that I ran the 4 miles at marathon pace. I think that I have 8:24/mile hardwired into my brain.

I hope that everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving!

I love running on country roads, but you gotta learn which ones are least trafficy!

Gunshots on the trail not such a good thing.

I enjoy the country roads, but invariably have a run in with an unleashed dog.

gun shots? I don’t blame you for not going back into the woods … but it seems you’re enjoying the change of scenery at least in Michigan. It seems to always enhance a run when its not the same old route…
