Today, I teamed up with my buddy/arch rival Flyers26 to run the Super Hero Half Marathon relay, which benefited the Christopher & Dana Reeve (Spinal Cord Injury and Paralysis) Foundation. It was a nice race. Together Flyers26 and I ran a sub 1:40:00 half marathon, which is something that neither of us have done on our own.

I ran the first leg of the race which was around 6.6 miles. I ran as hard as I could during my leg. If I was running on my own, I wouldn’t have pushed the pace, but I didn’t want to let my teammate down. There were some hills and I was definitely warm, but I ran my leg in 49:30. I started my watch when I crossed the starting line. The race was chip timed, but only at the halfway and finish so my time was probably 49:50 with the delay crossing the start. My splits were roughly: 7:42, 7:14, 7:34, 8:00, 7:37, 7:15 and 4:09 (7:00/mile pace) for the last .6 mile.

When I finished, I was happy to get a water, sit down and wait for my teammate to run his loop. Flyers26 crossed the finish line under 1:40 which we were both happy about. For now, we will go back to being rivals, but who knows, maybe in the future we will team up again for a sequel.

I guess together you guys do possess super strength, or at least impressive leg turnover. Congratulations on the duel/dual PR.
