Philly

November 18th, 2007 Posted in General, Running blogger sightings

My voice is nearly gone. I had a fun day at the marathon. Congratulations to all of the Philly runners! A special shout out to Maggie and Ted. They rocked their 1st marathon finishing around 5 hours.

I cheered at miles 1, 6, 16, 24 and as I walked to the finish. I recognized a lot of the same names/faces. There was one group of runners that particularly liked my cowbell. Each time I cheered, they cheered back and I told them where I would see them next. At the end, one of the runners from the group gave me a hug and asked if she could have the cowbell. After having run 24 miles, how could I say no?

At mile 25, a runner stopped and asked if I knew how to work her iPod. She wanted to listen to the newsboys. I queued it up and she was off running again.

I saw Maggie and Ted one last time at mile 26 as I was walking toward the finish. Then I hopped on the train and headed home.

My ears are still ringing from all that cowbell.

What a great way to be involved. The fall colors look wonderful.

You are a real pro at cheerleading those runners. I should have done the same thing! Next time, bring your bullhorn! This way, you won’t have to so much yelling! GREAT pixs!

I found your blog through Ted’s. I haven’t made it through your years of archived posts, yet, but I’ve enjoyed what I’ve read. I really enjoyed reading posts from a spectator’s perspective! I’m planning to run my first full marathon in ’08, but definitely want to go “spectate” one or two before mine. Guess I’ll need a cowbell. I look forward to reading more.
