Lincoln Tunnel Challenge 5K – Weehawken, New Jersey

April 20th, 2008 Posted in Running Races

I ran the Lincoln Tunnel challenge this morning. This is a fun race. The event raised over $100,000 for Special Olympics New Jersey. There were over 2,000 runners/walkers. It’s a unique experience. The downhills are great, but going up at the end takes some effort. There were a number of similarities between 2008 and 2006 when I last ran the race. I got lost on the way there. The weather was cold and damp. My race times are nearly identical.

Interesting race and for a good cause. I can’t imagine driving into that mess to run through the tunnel… which would probably freak me out too. Anyway… thanks for your comment. Good luck on your upcoming races. Maybe I’ll see ya at Broad Street!

    RUN ON, MANG!

Maybe by next year I’ll be able to join you for this! Is 3.1 miles equivalent to 5K? That’s how far I ran (and jogged and speed-walked…heh) Saturday for the Jersey Shore Relay for Special Olympics. Man it was tough! I didn’t think I’d make it…but the cheering people about 100 yards from the clock really helped push me across the finish line.

Think I would wonder if all the oxygen would be used up by all those heavy breathing runners. But still would be a good run. I will be running Narberth and Broad Street, so if you’re interested in meeting up, especially in Narberth, email me.

Very cool. I ran it this weekend as well and it was a lot of fun. Something goofy about running through a tunnel that we so often drive through.

I’m not sure I’ve ever driven through the Lincoln tunnel. Cool pictures. I love that they marked the state borders inside the tunnel. Congratulations on your race.

Thank you for Participating… I’m the race director and we think this a unique event and get mostly positive feedback. We are trying to address the masses in the tunnel and the effect on people running for time. Our idea is to do two races next year, one for people who are racing for time and one for the people there for the “fun” run… Any feedback would be appreciated.

This is a race I gotta do some year. I’m glad you hi-lited it for me. Who would have thought they’d give a tunnel artery over to runners one morning!
