The Hamilton Area Trail group invited runners to bring an unwrapped toy to the group run this morning. I left the house around 6:20 am, wearing my Santa hat and carrying my toy (a remote control car). I ran 4 miles to Mercer County Park and arrived just in time for the group run. There was a good turnout despite the forecasted snowy conditions. We ran just over 6 miles at the park.
With today’s run, my mileage for the year is 1000 miles. 2009 is my 5th full year of running. This is the first time that I’ve hit 1000 miles. It was one of my goals at the start of the year. Also, all of my miles have been outside, which was another goal.
Flyers26 pulled my name out of the hat after the run and I won a $25 gift certificate to Road Runner Sports. Thanks to Bill Y for organizing the Toys for Tots Run and donating the gift certificate. Flyers26 also gave me a ride home so that I didn’t have to run 4 more miles in deteriorating conditions. He even slowed the car down near my house so that I could jump out.
Last Saturday after the trail run, I drove out to Belmar, New Jersey to take a walk on the beach and boardwalk. It was cold and a bit windy, but I soaked up the salty ocean air for an hour or so before it started to rain. I love the shore, even in the winter. Here are some photos.
